Dr Md Shamim Alam is a well-known Immigration Lawyer that provides impeccable migration and legal services to his clients across Australia and abroad. He was an Australian Registered Migration Agent since November 2008 to 22 March 2021. However, as an Australian Legal Practioner, he is still legally authorised to assist all types of Migration matters.

General Overview of Career:

In 1999, Dr Md Shamim Alam became a lawyer in the Dhaka District Bar in Bangladesh. Shamim has become a Barrister and Solicitor in Australia in 2004 and practising law in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). He has obtained a doctoral degree in law in 2012 from the School of Law at the University of Canberra (UC).

Since 2008, Dr Shamim Alam has provided migration services in all areas of visa applications, merits review in AAT and judicial review in the Federal Court, and has established a solid reputation and a successful track record in difficult immigration cases. He has now acquired significant experience as a lawyer, both as an employed solicitor and practicing migration law in his own firm with top tier reputation from his clients.

From 2010-2015, Dr Shamim Alam had undertaken teaching responsibilities in the School of Law of the UC. He was a Registered Tutor of the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS) for the Ngunnawal Centre at the University of Canberra from February 2011 to 2013. Shamim Alam was appointed as an Overseas Students Agent of the University of Canberra from July 2009 to 2013.

Dr Shamim Alam has sought major AusAID/DFAT funding with Dr Geoff Nicoll of the University of Canberra to introduce a private pension fund to Bangladesh – utilizing the research completed for his Doctoral research program. He has published two scholarly articles in the Australian Journal of Asian Law in relation to his original research work and proposed pension project for Bangladesh.
